A nice bright red colour with tints of purple. The wine shows an intense bouquet of ripe red berries - notably nuances of strawberry and raspberry. Thanks to its suppleness, there is an intensity found in the middle palate and fine tannins contained in the finish. No oak ageing has allowed the wine to keep a great fruitiness and a pure expression.
The Vineyards of Château Escalette are spread over 14 hectares in Côtes de Bourg on the north bank of the river Gironde. The vineyards are on very chalky-clay soil with vines of an average age of 35 years planted at a low density offering lower yields of top quality fruit.
The blend is 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec.
